Yadkin Valley Stomp GNCC With the GNCC series returning to action after the
summer break everyone is looking to do well and
show new speed. Yesterday's Yadkin Valley Stomp in
North Carolina was an awesome event to come back
to. The track was in absolutely perfect conditions
with great weather throughout the weekend.
My race started out good with a 2nd place start.
Nearing the end of the first lap I worked my way
into first in class. But this would not be an easy
day as several riders were eager to lead the way.
I settled into 2nd place behind Jesse Robinson for
a few laps until another rider, Scott Watkins,
started to challenge me for the position. We
passed back and forth several times for the
position. In the midst of our battle we were
making ground on Jesse ,the leader, coming very
close to diminishing the 1 minute lead he had
gained in the beginning of the race. Coming into
the final lap Scott and I were still going at it.
My pitcrew made the decision to stop me for a
splash of fuel just to be safe. The track was fast
and the pace was intense so we did not want to
lose everything by running out of fuel near the
end. Scott's crew took the chance and did not stop
him to pit letting him put a few seconds on me
which i was unable to pick back up before the
finish. This had me finishing in 3rd place 250A
for the day, but the good news was the Overall
place I had earned. Jesse Robinson was 8th, Scott
Watkins was 9th and I was 10th overall, all within
35 seconds of each other. Our crew was really
happy with the day especially after this finish
moved me into 2nd place in class points for the
season.
Thanks to everyone for your support
